Course Description:

The Photoion Digital Photography Course for Intermediates is a 2 day course that is 100% bespoke and tailored to your individual requirements. Combining complex theory with practical examples, hands on exercises, location shooting and impromptu tasks and demonstrations, this unique course will allow you to take your photography to the next level.

This incredibly popular course goes above and beyond to show students the importance of “making” rather than “taking” an image, teaching you how to control your shots, how to plan and visualise your photographs and how to bring together all of the elements required to capture that perfect moment. All the while our policy of teaching in small groups means that every student gets the individual attention that they need to learn and develop their skills.

• DSLR Camera Advanced Settings and Commands
• Lenses: advanced classification, lens selection, accessories
• Advanced Focusing techniques
• Light Meter: understanding and effectively applying metering modes
• White Balance: understanding white balance and colour temperature
• Exposure Compensation
• Exposure Bracketing
• Understanding Histograms
• Light: understanding the colour and behaviour of light (natural & artificial, direction, form and quality)
• Flash: how to use your flashgun effectively taking into account natural light, settings and accessories
• Filters: understanding the types and uses of filters in different situations
• Long Exposures
• The elements of advanced composition

What you will need:

All that you will need is a basic knowledge of camera lenses, aperture, shutter speed and ISO including exposure modes. If you do not possess this knowledge then why not start off with our 2 day Digital Photography for Beginners course to get you up to speed.

A Digital SLR or professional Compact camera with full manual exposure and telephoto lens is also required, but don’t worry, if you do not currently own a camera you are still welcome to attend the course and use one of our spare semi-professional DSLR cameras. Please notify us before the day of your course if you will require the use of our cameras so that we can ensure we have something available for you. Lighting equipment will be provided on the day.

What you will take away:

By completion of this course students will be fully familiarised with their advanced camera settings, making particular use of Manual Mode. You will be taught how to use light, when to use flash and how to combine the two effectively, as well as developing your understanding of white balance and the use of filters. Students will also be in a position to begin to make complex decisions regarding their compositions, choosing the correct lenses and focal lengths and beginning to use long exposures to add wonderfully creative effects to their images.
